One Day, Maybe

I really pull for Stuart Townsend. He's the little engine that could in Hollywood and it hasn't been a good century for him so far.
First, Peter Jackson fires him from The Lord of the Rings. Townsend was all set to play Aragon and even had filmed some scenes. However, Jackson felt that Townsend wasn't the right type. In comes Viggo Mortensen and Townsend is just another footnote like Harvey Keitel from Apocalypse Now.
Then, Townsend is cast as Lestat in Queen of the Damned. He steps into the role once helmed by Tom Cruise. Maybe, he will be the next Tom Cruise. However, he was upstage by a dead person, both on screen and off. Aaliyah had died in a plane crash prior to the movie opening. Suddenly, everyone is watching for the late singer. Needless to say, the movie bombs.
SPOILER ALERT: Next, Townsend decides maybe he needs to play the bad guy. He is casted as Dorian Gray in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and the movie bombs.
What's a man to do?
Turn to television. It worked for Lucille Ball when her film career never took off.
He stars in the show, Night Stalker, a show about a reporter with a shady past who investigates creepy going-ons in the L.A. area. His costar is the beautiful Gabrielle Union and the future looks bright.
After six episodes, the show is cancelled.
But don't worry, Stuart, things are going to get better.
What the man needs is a role that has never, ever been played by another actor.
So, I urge Hollywood to give this kid another shot.
